This page serves as a quick “primer” for logging into — and making comments on — the GOFSEA web site. This format is meant to be interactive, so if you are unfamiliar with “blogging” pages and how to add comments, the instructions should help you.

First, here is how to create an account:

At the bottom right of the page in the content menus you will see a section called “Meta”:

Click on “login” and you will see this screen:

Just fill in the appropriate information. Check your email to find your password.

After registering a new account and checking your email account for the password, you can log in to the site. Come back to gofsea.org and go to the bottom right of the content menu. Click on “login” this time instead of “register.”

You will arrive here:

Enter the appropriate information and you see this in the upper left hand side of your browser screen:

This means that you are now a standard user of the web site. You have two options. You can view the site or you can update your profile. That’s all. Instructions on how to comment on existing posts will be added here soon.

If you want to become a site author, you need to email Rich at webmaster@gofsea.org to ask for author privileges. Be sure to tell him your current user name. He can alter your membership for author status.

After you become an “author” you will see this screen upon log in:

Notice that you now have a few more options! You can write new articles, edit (manage) existing articles and change your profile. Click on the “write” link.

Now you will see this page:

Just follow the directions for writing an article. All you have to do is enter the title you want for the article and put the story info in the “post” section. Don’t forget to click a category option on the right hand side. If the category you want is not listed, just click the “uncategorized” link and then email webmaster@gofsea.org to suggest a new category. It can be edited later.

Once you click the “publish” link, it will be live on the front page of the site. If you don’t like what you posted or you need to make changes, you can always come back and do so under the “manage” link at the top of your control panel.
